Description
one is the fabulous indigenous Mexican Hunab Ku/Ometeotl symbol, the other is a very badly done cross stitch by me.
I know there is a debate over whether this symbol is actually authentically Mayan or Aztec, or if it is something invented by the spaniards or a more modern, 'new-age' symbol. In any case, it's pretty, and I like it.
Some people say that to the Mayans and other Mesoamericans, this represented duality, the light and the dark, and the source of all creation. However, here's an article written by someone who believes otherwise:https://tcmam.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/the-omnipresent-mayan-deity-that-didnt-exist/
That Mexica History group was also discussing it.
